Free online Danish courses, from your first words to B2

Learn Danish online for free with Dansk Sprogskole. Our voluntary online courses help adults and international learners study Danish from A0 to B2, wherever they live. Start as a complete beginner or continue from your current level.

What is included for free?

A free account gives you access to Danish learning materials with videos and exercises, plus our student community. Study at your own pace. You do not need a Danish CPR number, and there is no payment.

Live lessons are scheduled separately. Check the live Danish classes page for current times and participation details.

Choose your Danish level

  • A0: Complete beginner. Start with your first Danish words and basic expressions.
  • A1–A2: Everyday Danish. Build vocabulary and practise simple conversations about familiar topics.
  • B1–B2: More independent communication. Develop your ability to understand and discuss everyday life, work and more detailed topics.

Not sure where to start? Read our guide to Danish levels A0 to C1. The guide also explains C1; our online learning materials cover A0 to B2.

Learn with Danish teachers

Our teachers include Nina, Marie and Peter, who hold Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) degrees. Read about our teachers and Dansk Sprogskole, or see the facts about our courses and role.

Continuing into education in Denmark

FVU teaching is completely free of charge. Once you have a basic knowledge of Danish, HF & VUC can assess your eligibility and help you find the right FVU course in Denmark. HF & VUC handles official assessment, admission, teaching and examinations. If you later continue with AVU or HF single-subject courses, participation fees apply.
